What is LinkedIn for Nonprofits?

LinkedIn for Nonprofits helps nonprofit organizations with hiring, staff development, professional relationship-building, donor and partner outreach, and fundraising support through discounted LinkedIn solutions and free resources.

LinkedIn is different from Google and Microsoft. It does not provide an email, file, and meeting environment; it focuses on professional presence, relationships, talent, and learning.

Relevant products

LinkedIn nonprofit solutions include hiring tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter, LinkedIn Jobs, and Career Pages, as well as LinkedIn Learning and Sales Navigator for relationship-building and fundraising. Review the LinkedIn for Nonprofits products page for current options.

For fundraising, LinkedIn provides a dedicated page on fundraising solutions for nonprofits, and its FAQ notes that discounts may be available for eligible organizations subject to annual spend requirements.

Note on marketing products

LinkedIn for Nonprofits should not be treated as a general marketing-discount program. On its contact page, LinkedIn states that it does not offer discounts on marketing products, but can provide personalized support to help nonprofits use advertising campaigns.

LinkedIn Ad Grants

LinkedIn Ad Grants is a separate program that allows eligible nonprofits to apply for free advertising on LinkedIn. The help page states that the program currently focuses on organizations working in workforce development and environmental sustainability.

The LinkedIn Social Impact page also refers to support areas such as economic opportunity, diversity and equity, and environmental sustainability. Organizations should review the criteria for each application cycle before relying on the program.

Eligibility and steps

LinkedIn explains that organizations should have legally recognized charitable status, operate on a nonprofit basis, comply with LinkedIn policies, and use licenses for the organization itself rather than partner, affiliate, or sister organizations.

  1. Review LinkedIn for Nonprofits.
  2. Define the need: hiring, learning, fundraising, relationship-building, or advertising.
  3. Review the relevant product page or contact the LinkedIn team.
  4. Prepare organizational data, proof of legal status, and official website information.
  5. Monitor email and respond to any verification or information requests.
